2021 National Scholastic Writing Awards Silver Medal Winner

Do you ever just forget something?  Something just slips from your mind?

That's the opening line of the award winning essay by our 7th grader, Rafferty H who  won a SILVER medal in the 2021 NATIONAL Scholastic Writing Competition!

Out of 230,000 entries, there were 2,000 students who achieved National recognition

 https://medals.artandwriting.org/ .

Rafferty is the only elementary student in the Catholic Diocese Of Wilmington to earn this distinction.  Read her award winning, poignant yet powerful essay, "Remember".

St. Ann's has an outstanding Middle School writing program under the direction of ELA teacher Mrs. Lynne Dickinson. We are grateful to her for developing the talents of our young writers and giving them the opportunity to excel on the state and national level.

You may remember a number of our students including Rafferty were awarded prizes and honorable mentions at the State level. Rafferty took that one step further to achieve distinction at the National Level.

Congratulations Rafferty!
